Follow up on Corona travel restrictions

In recent weeks many have shown tremendous solidarity, willingness to find the best solutions and to keep the impact of Corona as low as possible. Therefore, I would like to express my gratitude to all our partners and clients who have had to postpone holidays in recent weeks. The enormous understanding and eagerness to move forward together towards a brighter future, both from our suppliers as well as from our customers, are hopeful signs which warm our heart in these darker days.

The most recent restrictions

  • Costa Rica has extended its restrictions: there will be no tourists allowed into the country until at latest April 30th.
  • In Belgium, lockdown will last at least until May 3rd.
  • Portugal has not made an official statement yet at the time of writing, but is expected to also keep the borders closed, especially with Spain.
  • Other companies, like airlines and car rental companies, often already canceled all services until May 31st.
  • You can still follow up the most recent information about your destination on the websites provided in our previous blogs:
  • For Portugal and Azores: https://www.yugentours.com/en/blog/corona-portugal-azores
  • Costa Rica: https://www.yugentours.com/en/blog/corona-costa-rica

What about future travels?

At this time it is unknown when we will be able to travel again. Nobody is able to predict the future unfortunately. Moreover the situation is not the same in every country and we may have different dates at which the borders open up again, depending on which country you reside in. If over the following weeks or months your journey cannot take place due to the Corona virus, please contact us. We will, as always, do our utmost best to find a suitable solution for you.

It is clear that not being able to travel and not getting to enjoy these special experiences with our loved ones, which we looked forward to so much, is a rough pill to swallow. For many local friends and families, working in tourism, this is not only a severe setback but a matter of surviving or not, being able to buy food or not. Aside from the guides, cleaning ladies at accommodations, boatmen, and the guy selling fresh, drinkable coconuts to travelers, there are also the rescue and rehabilitation centers, indigenous tribes, organizations for the protection of biospheres and national parks, rangers who protect against poachers and many, many more who have seen their income disappear completely without receiving any financial aid.

That is why I like to ask for your understanding in these exceptional times and to keep on traveling in the future. When necessary due to the Corona virus, please postpone but do not cancel your holiday.

Stay safe & share your smile,

Iris
