As lockdown measures are being phased out slowly in several countries, we carefully start dreaming again about our next holiday. Portugal is not only hoping on a positive outcome soon but has already been preparing to be able to receive travelers in the safest possible circumstances.Therefor, Turismo de Portugal created a “Clean and Safe” stamp of approval to distinguish tourist activities which are compliant with hygiene and cleaning requirements for the prevention and control of COVID-19 and other possible infections. The Azores, being part of Portugal, follow the same system. This is what the stamp looks like:

Only companies which are officially registered with the National Tourist Authority can request certification as a "Clean and Safe" establishment. They need to submit a Declaration of Commitment and implement an internal protocol which ensures the necessary hygiene measures are taken to avoid risk of contagion and which guarantees safe procedures for the operation of tourist activities. Turismo de Portugal will carry out audits of establishments that join this initiative. The request for the stamp is free and optional. It is valid for 1 year.

The intend is also to inform companies on the hygiene requirements and cleaning measures in order to ensure the safety, according to the recommendations of the Directorate-General for Health, as well as promoting Portugal as a safe destination. Our local partner has obtained the stamp already. As YŪGEN tours has always been an online travel agency, we have had no big operational changes to make and are well adapted to working from anywhere. Do not hesitate to contact us at hello@yugentours.com for any concern or request you may have.

We hope everyone stays safe and will be able to enjoy traveling soon again. Rest assure we are doing all we can to make this possible in a responsible way as soon as the situation allows us to. Your health is a top priority to us. Meanwhile we are working behind the scenes on new example itineraries in the region of Central Portugal, Lisbon area and the province of Alentejo, so...

Stay tuned!
