Go Caribbean Style! This exquisite new self-drive itinerary brings you from the lush hills and tropical plantations inland all the way to the Caribbean Sea. Lodges are one of a kind gems, often only accessible by boat, 4x4 or raft and offer various options for wildlife spotting and fun activities. This is not just any tour but an eco-adventure not be missed.

Itinerary in a nutshell

Discover all there is to know about coffee, cocoa, pejibayes, tropical fruit and forest species in the lush Turrialba valley. Walk or bike and admire century old kapok trees, dripping orchids, towering stalks of bamboo and many other colourful plants.

Park your car and raft your way out of civilization. Stop at a waterfall for a swim and stay overnight in “Cabecar Indian” style bungalows by the river. The lodge is nestled in the jungle, amidst a 1500 acre private reserve. Relax on the deck or go hiking. Whatever you do, make sure to enjoy the pristine surroundings.

Stay at the remote Laguna de Madre de Dios in an exquisite lodge where delicious food is served on the water. Take a tour on the Pacuare Canals and admire the arrival of Leatherback, Green or Hawksbill turtles on the beach. Learn about the protection and conservation of these magnificent species. Take a guided night walk in the rainforest and try to spot the unique nocturnal fauna.

In the jungle near the Talamancan Mountains an ecolodge that truly re-defines the word eco is waiting for your next few days of adventure. You can go hiking, horse-riding, bird watching, waterfall rappelling, zip-lining in the canopy or just admire the surroundings from a hammock on the deck. Find out what silence sounds like again!

Top it all off with some nice beach days at the Caribbean coast, spoiling yourself with a chocolate tour. Local entrepreneurs are turning cacao into the most fresh chocolate you have ever tasted.

Our local and very knowledgeable guide will take you on an eco-conscious half day tour in Cahuita NP. Do not forget to bring extra memory cards for your camera!
