Costa Rica lifts all travel restrictions!

Great news for everyone who plans to travel to Costa Rica! As of April 1st Costa Rica will be lifting several restrictions making it easier for everyone to visit paradise. Which are the most important changes which will go into effect as of April 1st, 2022?
- The health pass or "Pase de Salud" will no longer be necessary to enter the country.
- The obligation for unvaccinated travelers to take out a specific insurance will be abolished.
- All establishments, activities and events will be able to operate at 100% capacity without using the QR code.
However, all travelers entering the country are recommended to acquire an insurance policy with sufficient coverage to include medical expenses and extended stays due to quarantine in case of a Covid-19 infection.
Remember that following rules also apply
- You cannot enter Costa Rica with a one way ticket, you need to provide proof that you will be leaving the country before your visa or entry stamp expires ( usually within 90 days).
- Coming from certain African and Latin-American countries, you must posses a yellow fever vaccination certificate ( not when traveling from Europe or USA). Always check with your doctor.
- It is important that you also check the Covid-rules of your home country, especially concerning your return. Some countries will require their citizens to provide a negative test result before boarding the plane in Costa Rica. The result can often only be 48 or 72 hours old. There are several hospitals in Costa Rica where you can get tested. An appointment can be made as of two weeks in advance. If you need a test before your return flight, please let us know so we can advise you on where to get one. Depending on where you will be your last days in Costa Rica. If necessary, we will need to adapt your travel itinerary.
